Most acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives are synthesized by solution process. However, in recent years, majority of industries have been striving to create environmentally friendly products that are non-toxic or at least low-toxic. Although the demand for solvent-free adhesives is increasing, there is disadvantage that various properties such as water resistance, heat resistance and adhesiveness are generally lower than those of conventional solvent-based pressure-sensitive adhesives. In this study, the polymerization conditions were varied to find the optimum conditions for solvent-free pressure sensitive adhesives using emulsion polymerization so as to have properties similar to those of conventional solvent-based pressure sensitive adhesives. |
