제목 Induction and Growth of Neurites of DRG Neurons on the Wettability Gradient PE Surfaces
초록 Dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons have both central and peripheral myelinated processes in situ, they have been a uniquely valuable and biologically relevant system for the study of myelination in tissue culture. There are many factors for more neurites of the DRG neurons by neurotrophic factors i.e. nerve growth factors (NGF), leukemia inhibitory factors (LIF), and neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
The effect of surface wettability on the different types of cells was an important role for cell adhesion and proliferation. The purpose of this study is neurites formation on polymer surfaces with different wettability. Induction and growth of neurites from the adult rat DRG neurons attached on the PE surfaces with different hydrophilicity were investigated using the wettability gradient PE surfaces prepared by corona discharge treatment. In conclusion, surfaces wettability plays an important role for neurites formation on the polymer surfaces for axon regeneration.
