Hydrogel actuators are water swollen polymer networks that reversibly change their dimensions or shapes when external stimuli cause local or global changes in network swelling. Their ability to swell and deswell according to physical or chemical conditions makes them potential candidates for a number of diverse applications, such as sensors, drug delivery systems, and tissue engineering. In this work, we prepared bilayer type hydrogels composed of photothermally reponsive active layer and passive layer. Especially, we used gold nanorod as photothermal materials, which effectively convert the photo energy of infrared-light into thermal energy. The swelling properties, morphologies, light-induced bending behaviors of hydrogel were also investigated. |
