PEO functionalized Polysilsesquioxane Ionogel Polymer Electrolytes for High Temperature Lithium Ion Capacitors |

We synthesized a new polyethylene glycol-functionalized polysilsesquioxane, ladder-like structured poly(methacryloxypropyl-co-polyethyleneoxide)silsesquioxane which was investigated as high temperature ionogel polymer electrolytes for lithium ion capacitors. In this process, both of organic and inorganic matters including an inorganic labber-like polysilsesquioxane backbone, dual organic pendant groups consisting of free-dangling PEO chains and unsaturated methacryloxypropyl group were introduced, which enable the electrolyte to exhibit not only the enhanced thermal and electrochemical stability but also the improved lithium ion dissociation. This unique ionogel polymer electrolyte exhibited excellent cell performance, comparable with those of neat liquid electrolyte, and superior over ionogels fabricated with organic crosslinkers without PEO-moeities. Moreover, these ionogel polymer electrolytes showed excellent cycling performance at 80 °C, sustaining over 99% coulombic efficiency. |
