In this paper, the permeability behaviour of volatile organic compounds through LDPE, EVOH, and LDPE/LLDPE-g-MA/EVOH/LLDPE-g-MA/LDPE films was investigated using a new isostatic-based permeation system. This system, typically featuring built-in cylindrical evaporator and chamber, mass flow controllers (MFCs), and external water circulator, allowed for direct measurement and determination of permeation characteristics. The permeability coefficients for all tested compounds were in good agreement with literature data and as an application of such functional film, we demonstrated the method studied as accurate and reliable tools for characterizing permeation properties against organic vapours. It would also be useful to find and choose plastic materials that are a good fit for food and beverage packaging. The film was characterized in terms of mechanical strength, surface morphology and thickness, and gas permeation properties. |
