Polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) films, fabricated by the sequential adsorption oppositely charged polyelectrolytes, were used as a template for the synthesis of silver (Ag) nanoparticles. The properties of PEM films composed of weak polyelectrolytes such as poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) are particularly sensitive to the pH. Carboxylic acid groups in PEM films bound silver cations by ion exchange with the acid protons. Subsequent reduction formed silver nanoparticles. In this study, we fabricated PEM films that contain silver nanoparticles. And we confirmed the synthesis of the silver nanoparticles and the release behavior of silver nanoparticles in the Phosphate buffered saline (PBS). Also we examined the toxicity of silver nanoparticles through the cell test. |
