Conducting polymers (CPs) have attracted considerable attention as promising materials for diverse applications such as polymer actuators, electrical sensors, organic light-emitting diodes, organic transistors, and photovoltaics. Recently, the flexible and stretchable characteristics of CPs have been studied by numerous researchers to open the way to new application such as wearable electronic devices. However, it represents a great challenge to develop CP electrodes with both high electrical conductivity and excellent stretchability. Here, we achieve highly stretchable and conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films via the formation of fibrillar network using ionic liquid. The PEDOT:PSS films exhibit an 11-fold increase in resistance at large strain (Ɛ=50%) and remain electrically functional at greater than 68% linear strain. |
