제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Modified Potato Starch for Use as Metal Sorbent
초록 Modification of native potato starch posses the property to adsorb metal ions from aqueous solution. Present work describes the synthesis of modified potato starch having carboxyl functional group, its characterization and metal uptake property of the resin from contaminated water. Aqueous ferrous sulfate (FeSO4.7H2O) solution was employed to evaluate the sorption behavior of ferrous (Fe2+) ions into the polymer resin. Various physical parameters like; pH, ionic strength of the metal solution, mass of the adsorbents, adsorption time and the temperature were considered during the sorption process. The metal salt solution was analyzed by atomic adsorption spectrophotometer (AAS) before and after to expose with the adsorbent.
