제목 | Seed Layer Effect on the growth of well-aligned ZnO nanorod arrays by chemical solution method |
초록 | Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a wide band gap semiconductor with direct band gap of 3.37 eV at room temperature. ZnO nanostrcutures with various shapes, which were synthesized by chemical vapor transport method, chemical vapor deposition, and hydrothermal method in general, have been reported. Among the ZnO nanostrcutures ZnO nanorod is one of the most valuable nanostrcutures for optical, electrical, and environmental, biological applications. In general, to synthesize vertically aligned ZnO nanorods on various kinds of substrates, a ZnO seed layer has been employed in which the seed layer is prepared by using vacuum equipments such as sputtering, pulsed laser deposition, or molecular beam epitaxy. In this study, we have synthesized vertical ZnO nanorods on SiO2/Si (100) substrates by all-solution processed without using vacuum equipments. That is, the ZnO nanorods were synthesized by using the hydrothermal method at 95C, in which spin coating followed by a heat treatment was used to prepare the ZnO seed layer for vertical growth. Zinc acetate anhydrate (CH3CO2)2Zn) was used to make a solution for spin coating. For the hydrothermal growth of ZnO nanorods, zinc nitrate hexahyderate (Zn(NO3)2.6H2O) and hexamethylenetetramine (C6H12N4) were used to make an aqueous precursor solution. To see the effect of spin coated ZnO seed layer on synthesis of ZnO nanorods, seed layers were prepared by changing a thickness of seed layer and a concentration of the solution. Very uniform and flat ZnO seed layers with rms roughness values of 1~2 nm were prepared by a simple spin coating process. Vertical ZnO nanorods with a preferred orientation of ZnO <0001> direction were successfully synthesized by using the spin-coated ZnO seed layer. It was observed that ZnO seed layer can effect the diameter, density and orientation of the nanorods. Gas sensing property was examined on the prepared ZnO nanorods by using a hydrogen gas and the details of investigation will be discussed. |
