제목 Fabrication and properties of ultrafiltration membranes composed of carboxylic polyethersulfone and self assembly antibacterial ZnO nanoparticles
초록 To enhance the hydrophilicity of polyethersulfone(PES) ultrafiltration membrane(UF membrane) and solve fouling problem, we have used self assembly of carboxylic acid terminated PES(PES-COOH) and ZnO nanoparticles having antibacterial properties. PES-COOH(cPES) was synthesized via acetylating and oxidating reaction of PES. Then, their blends with polyethersulfone(PES) were used for the fabrication of ultrafiltration membranes having high hydrophilic properties. Ultrafiltration membranes were prepared from the blends of PES and PES-COOH via Non-solvent Induced Phase Separation(NIPS) process. For the reaction of ZnO on the PES-COOH membrane surface, ZnO-NH2 was synthesized in two steps. Self assembled PES-COOH membrane(cPES-ZnO) showed slight drop in solute rejection but exhibited better water flux and antibacterial performance compared to original PES membrane.
