Hollow spheres, generally prepared by coating polymer templates with metal or inorganic materials and then eliminating the templates, have drawn attention because of the versatile applications in the fields of biology, electronics and so on. In order to provide the light scattering effect and surface activity required in photovoltaics, Coating TiO2 nanoparticles on the surfaces of polymer particles were conducted by a simple method, i.e., hydrolysis of TiCl4 solution with PS. The coated particles were sintered at 500C for 1hr to remove the PS template and to improve the crystallinity. Analysis by SEM and TEM confirmed that the spherical or ellipsoidal TiO2 hollow were well constructed, respectively, and the diameter and the shell thickness were examined. The TGA curve showed the transformation of amorphous TiO2 into crystal structure and removal of PS template at 340 ~ 420℃. The XRD pattern of the TiO2 hollow spheres showed that the hollow spheres have well-developed anatase form. |
