It is well known that the ionomers having metals as conductive medium, called ionic polymer metal composites (IPMCs) show large dynamic deformation if placed under electric field, and are used as biomimetic sensors, actuators and artificial muscles. Traditionally, Nafion® based IPMCs are in wide use. However, due to their high costs, extensive research is going on to find the alternatives of Nafion®. For the first time, we will present cost effective, polystyrene based IPMCs-containing organic molecules having ionic moieties as fillers. The detailed results and analysis will be presented. |
