With respect to actuator, performance improvement is a fundamental factor. In this study, core-shell structured fillers were synthesized by in-situ chemical polymerization of pyrrole on different sized α- or γ- aluminas using ferric sulfate as an oxidant and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a dopant and surfactant. General composite membranes of NafionTM and the fillers, membranes placing the composite layer between two Nafion layers, and ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) actuators based on the prepared composite membranes were prepared. Compared to IPMCs based on pristine NafionTM and general composite membranes, multi-layered IPMCs containing a composite layer exhibited a more larger bending performance especially under dc voltage. |
