A series of shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) were synthesized from poly(tetramethylene glycol)(PTMG) and 4,4-methylene diphenyldiisocyanate (MDI).Three parameters were used to test changes of thermal and physical properties ofSMPU: ⅰ) different molecular weights between crosslinking point (Mc),ⅱ) crosslinking agent,ⅲ)introducing hard segment. Thermal and mechanical properties of the SMPU have been characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and universal testing machine (UTM). Shape memory effect was confirmed by thermomechanical cyclic behavior.Consequentially, improvementof thermal and physical properties of polyurethane, shape fixity and shape recovery were confirmed by increasing of crosslinkingdensity and introducing of hard segment. |
