Perfluorinated polymers have been applied as surface-modified agents with water and oil repellency because of their low surface free energy. Also, the agents prepared by polymerization of perfluoro methacrylate(PFMA) have been widely used. But they showed slight defects for both mechanical and optical properties such as film strength, hardness and transparency, etc. In order to improve the defects, perfluorinated acrylourethane prepolymer(PFAUP) was prepared by a step-wised reaction based on the functional mole ratio of 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate blocked with 2-hydroxy methacrylate to perfluoro alcohol. Obtained PFAUP was characterized by using FT-IR, 1H-NMR, MS, XRD and DSC, etc. Based on DSC data, PFAUP showed melting point at above 149.7 ℃ and the melting enthalpy change(ΔHfusion) was calculated 29.73 J/g, indicating that it is highly crystalline whereas PFMA is completely amorphous. And high degree of its crystallinity was reproved by using XRD pattern. In addition, the poly(PFAU) was synthesized by solution polymerization using polar solvents like DMF and DMSO at 70 ℃ for 72 hrs. Crystalline poly(PFAU) brought about the incrase of hardness compared to amophous poly(PFMA). In the comparative test for water repellency, the contact angle values for the poly(PFAU) film was higher than that of poly(PFMA) film. |
