The design and realization of new conjugated organic semiconductors has been a great interest for the field of organic solar cells, particularly due to that the silole (silacyclopentadiene) moiety has σ*-orbital of the silicon-carbon bond effectively interacts with the ∏*-orbital of the butadiene fragment leading to a low lying LUMO. Based on the previous points, we synthesized new poly[5,5’-diblocked(di-n-hexenylsilolethiophenes) and its copolymers with a variety of fused aromatic compounds such as 1,4-dibromobenzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazolediazole, 2,7-dibromo-9,9’-dialkylfluorene, 2,5-dibromothiophene, and its thiophene derivatives in reasonable yields. We investigated photophysical properties of the polymers and founded that the polymers are especially environmentally stable. Further, we employed a device architecture that combines advantages of double layer and blend devices, which opens exciting new possibilities in device design. |
