Organosilica nanoparticles (OSNs) are prepared by the hydrolysis of alkoxyorganosilanes (AOS) or cohydrolysis with tetraethyl silicate (TEOS), and their condensation to polysiloxane. Generally the silica particles are opaque white, so it is difficult to apply them to transparent glass and colored areas. So we have conducted research to make transparent OSNs with 50 nm diameter or less. In this study, monodisperse OSNs in the variety of 30~ 200 nm diameters were obtained through the stöber process starting from AOS and combination with TEOS by controlling the reaction conditions such as the ratio of reactants, TEOS, AOS, and water, ethanol solvent, and reaction temperature and time. The size and morphology of prepared OSNs have been measured by the SEM, TEM, and DLS analytical techniques, their thermal properties also by TGA, DSC. In this presentation, we will discuss the synthesis and properties of OSNs obtained in this study in details. |
