Demands for improved stability of lithium-ion batteries are increasing. In this study, we introduced an electrolyte system with advanced electrolyte additives containing silyl-ether and triazole motifs. Silyl ether group is well-known to deactivate HF molecules, and 1,2,3-triazole moieties are also known as a corrosion inhibitor to have coordination with metal ions and as resistive to high temperature when located at the side chain of polymers. Our multi-functional electrolyte additive named FCN-TBDMS promotes fast lithium-ion transfer by scavenging HF and fabricates a charge-balanced EI layer for the suppression of oxygen release. Our research will help to step further towards commercialization of Ni-rich NCM cathode, which is limited by severe intragranular degradation and intrinsic thermal instability. |
