제목 Lignin based carbon - Montmorillonite hybrid reiniforcement for thermoplastic polymers
초록 Lignin, the major by-product of pulp industries, is one of the most abundant natural materials. It is also considered as a great carbon source having rich carbonic structures in its inherent chemical structure. Nanoclay is also easily found in the nature and it is commonly used as fillers in polymer matrices for its excellent barrier effects and structural advantages. In this study, kraft lignin and montmorillonite nanoclays are used for the hybridization being expected to show synergistic reinforcements in thermo-plastic polymers. The hybridization of these two materials was successfully achieved in NaOH solution and further treatments such as carbonizations and calcinations were performed to obtain fine powder-shaped fillers with high specific surface area. The fillers were characterized by XRD analysis and FE-SEM. The results showed that the mechanical/thermal properties of a polymer could be enhanced by these hybridized fillers dispersed in its matrix.
