Magnetoelectric (ME) composites have attracted since 2000's with increasing interest due to its unique multiferroic features possessing simultaneously ferroelectric and ferromagnetic orders. From the multiferroic ME composites, direct and converse ME effects were induced as change in electric polarization in response to applied magnetic field and as change in magnetization in response to applied electric field, respectively. The ME responses have been used for functional applications of energy harvesters, high-sensitive magnetic field sensors, communication components and electric-write/magnetic-read memory devices. In particular, the productive ME characteristics were responded under very low magnitudes of magnetic field or electrical field utilizing high sensitive electrical devices. Further, recent our studies on hysteretic ME responses with self-bias effect improved feasibility of high-sensitive magnetic sensors as well as self-bias energy harvesters. |
