Hydrocracking of Heavy Residual Feedstock with High Dispersion of Asphaltene |

The hydrocracking is one major technology to efficiently convert heavy feedstock into distillable liquid fuel products. The selection of the hydrocracking process for residual upgrading is mainly constrained by the compositions of the heavy oil including the impurities of heteroatoms and the amount of Conradson carbon residue. Besides, the heavy molecular fractions, i.e. asphaltene and resin, are generally known to facilitate the formation of the coke which impedes the stable operation of the process as well as the achievement of total conversion of heavy feedstock into the desired liquid fuel products. Such refractory molecules are present in a form of clusters or aggregates which limit the mass transfer or efficient dispersion of hydrogenation catalysts over the internal core of the heavy clusters. In this presentation, we will discuss the role of asphaltene dispersant to alter the stability of heavy oils and the effect of additives on the overall hydrocracking performance in depth. |
