Graphene coated uniformly with alumina and its utilization as a thermal conductivity enhancer for alumina sphere/thermoplastic polyurethane composite |
초록 |
A graphene is oxidized with H2O2 to introduce additional anchoring sites for uniform and effective alumina coating on a graphene by sol-gel method. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that oxygen-containing groups useful for coating such as hydroxyl group rather than carboxylic acid group are introduced by the oxidation reaction. The images from transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy, and the thermogravimetric analysis data demonstrate that the uniformity and efficiency of the alumina coating are enhanced by the additional anchoring sites. A small amount of alumina-coated graphene improves synergistically the thermal conductivity of alumina sphere/thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composite without any increase of electrical conductivity because the electrical conductivity of a graphene is effectively diminished by the alumina coating. |
