Direct fluorination of electrospun PEO nanofibers for drug delivery system having characteristic of sustained drug release |

The solution of PEO (Poly ethylene oxide) and lactic acid bacteria (Streptococcus thermophilus) was spun by using electrospinning method in order to obtain drug delivery system. The surface modification of electrospun fibers was carried out by direct fluorination for getting sustained drug release. The morphology of resultant samples was investigated by using FE-SEM images. The chemical change on surface was also studied by XPS analysis. The drug release was examined by using UV-spectrometer. Streptococcus used as a drug was encapsulated by PEO fibers. The hydrophobic functional groups were formed on the surface for sustained drug release. The optimized conditions of direct fluorination were studied for releasing drug in large intestine of human body. Eventually, it was confirmed that the streptococcus drug could be released in target spot and time by controlling conditions of fluorination. |
