Rutin is one of the most commonly found flavonol glycosides being a wide spectrum of biological activities such as antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and wound healing. It has recently been reported to be significant ability in enhancing fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. We introduce a bioactive hydrogel based on rutin-conjugated chitosanPEGtyramine (RCPT). In the hydrogel, rutin played roles as a therapeutic molecule supporting fibroblast proliferation and collagen production in injury site. The synthesized products were characterized by 1H NMR, UVVis and FTIR. Mechanical strength of the RCPT was obtained by rheological test. The amount of the released rutin from the hydrogel could be controlled by catalytic concentration The degradation of hydrogels was maintained over one month. Cytotoxicity of the hydrogels were investigated with human fibroblast cell. The results show the potential of the RCPT hydrogel for wound healing by utilizing rutin´s effects. |
