Well-defined poly(styrene-b-vinyl benzyl phosphoric acid) (PS-b-PVBPA), was synthesized by stable free radical polymerization (SFRP), phosphorylation, and hydrolysis. Then, the blend membranes of PS-b-PVBPA copolymer with poly(2,6-dimethylphenylene oxide) (PPO) were prepared in order to improve mechanical property and thermal stability. Block length ratio and total MW of PS-b-PVBPA were varied, and the weight ratio of PPO/ PS-b-PVBPA was controlled. Influence of molecular structure of PS-b-PVBPA and blend ratio on ion conductivity, methanol permeability, and thermal stability, etc., were studied. The water uptake and ion conductivity of PS-b-PVBPA/PPO blends membranes increased with block copolymer weight ratio. Especially, the ion conductivity of PS-b-PVBPA/PPO blend membranes increased significantly with temperature. Other characteristics of the membrane will be reported. |
