Recently, great attention has been paid to the use of carbon materials for increasing thermal conductivity of polymer due to their unique nanostructures, high aspect ratio and superior thermal conductivity. Although fillers have a positive effect on polymer matrices, their nanoscale dimensions, and high surface areas make them difficult to disperse into the matrix. Silane coupling agent is a commonly used surface treatment agent. Grafting silane molecules onto fillers surface improve dispersion of the fillers in matrix, thereby improving the interfacial interactions. These improved interfacial interactions result in an enhancement of thermal and mechanical properties. This study was conducted to study the thermal conductivity of poly (dimethyl siloxane) composites filled with carbon fillers, including graphite and expanded graphite (EG), and to improve the mechanical properties of composites using silane coupling agents |
