Among many active materials, silicon (Si) has been suggested as the most prospective candidates as anodes because of its very high theoretical capacity (4200 mAh/g). However, utilization of Si accompanies substantial volume changes (~400%) and poor conductivity which cause rapid deterioration of cell performance. In an effort to overcome this problem, many researchers have developed new types of polymer binder. Recently, our group has reported a polymer binder system based on acid-base interaction between PAA and PBI. Herein, we extend our research by introducing ionic conducting PEG group onto PBI. The properties of the newly-developed polymer binder based on PAA and PEG-PBI will be detailed. |
