Effect of Physical Activation on Pitch-based Carbon Fibers for Methane Storage |

In this work, we have prepared Pitch-based Carbon Fibers (PBCFs) with physical activation for methane storage behaviors. The PBCFs were conducted by steam activation with different temperatures. The textural properties of PBCFs were investigated by N2/77 K adsorption isotherms using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation. Structural properties were investigated by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD). Morphologies characteristics of PBCFs were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The methane storage capacity was measured by a volumetric measurement at 298 K and 35 bar. It was found that the activation temperature had influenced on the pore diameter of PBCFs for methane storage. |
