Characterization of Li2MnSiO4 Cathodes Material in Lithium Reachargeable Batteries |

Silicon is an element with natural abundance and non toxic characteristics. And orthosilicate is one class of the attractive polyanions wth intrinsic thermal stability. The lithium transition-metal orthosilicates, Li2MSiO4 (M=Fe, Mn and Co) have been proposed as a new clas of high-capacity lithium ion battery cathode. Li2MnSiO4 was synthesized by a sol-gel method from lithium acetate, manganese, and tetraethyl orthosilicate precursors. Then, these precursors were dissolved in water/ethanol, dried at 80 oC and placed into a tubular furnace at various temperature and time under an N2 atmosphere to get the resultant product. The structural properties of Li2MnSiO4 were carried out using an X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphological feature was investigated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The electrochemical characterization of the products was carried out between 2.0 and 4.7 V in coin cell. |
