This study focuses on the development of Nafion™/PANI composite membranes for IPMC and fuel cells. PANI (polyaniline) was synthesized using APS (ammonium persulfate) as an oxidant and CSA (camphorsulfonic acid) as a dopant. The Nafion™/PANI composite membranes were prepared by solvent casting on various substrates, e.g. glass, aluminium and teflon with a range of hydrophilic~hydrophobic characteristics. It was expected the presence of polyaniline in Nafion™ may contribute to increase the ionic conductivity. In addition, the solvent casting The Nafion solution on extremely polar or non-polar surface may dictate the orientation and morphology of ion clusters. Experimental results will be presented in detail at the conference. |
