제목 Preparation and performance of an ionic polymer-metal composite actuator based on a sulfonated poly(vinyl alcohol) membrane
초록 Partially cross-linked and sulfonated poly(vinyl alcohol) (s-PVA) membranes were synthesized for fuel cells and IPMC type actuators. PVA was reacted with sulfosuccinic acid (SSA) and 4-(2-hydroxyethyl) piperazine-1-propanesulfonic acid (EPPS). It was possible to synthesize the sulfonated PVA with a high degree of ion exchange capacity without dissolving in water. The measured theoretical ion exchange capacities of the resulting polymers were in the range of 0.6 ∼ 1.5 meq/g (NafionTM = 0.89 meq/g). This sulfonated PVA was used to prepare IPMC via electroless plating technique. The performance and electrical properties of these IPMC actuators will be discussed in conference.
