In the present study, the morphology of poly(styrene-co-tiglate)(PSTA) ionomers was investigated by using the small-angle x-ray scattering(SAXS) technique. It was found that the SAXS peaks of polystyrene-based ionomer shifted to higher angles and its intensity increased. It was observed that the position of the SAXS peaks for the PSTA ionomer is usually plased in the lower angle than these of the poly(styrene-co-methacrylate)(PSMA) and poly(styrene-co-acrylate)(PSA) ionomers, at comparable ion contents. This indicated that the presence of the bulky group at the beta position of an ionic repeat unit for the PSTA ionomer, compared to the small hydrogen for the PSMA and PSA ionomer, made the ionomer form weak multiplets, which led to less clustering. |
