제목 Solution Thermodynamics of Poly(lactic acid)/Dialkyl Phthalate System
초록 Poly(lactic acid) is known as a biodegradable, biocompatible material and has great potential in tissue engineering. In this study, solution thermodynamics of poly(lactic acid)/dialkyl phthalate system was investigated. A series of dialkyl phthalates, with different number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, was adopted to control the solvent power. In order to investigate the effect of stereoregularity of the polymer on the interaction parameter two different enantiomeric polymers, poly(l-lactic acid) and poly(dl-lactic acid), were used. Several thermodynamic parameters, such as theta temperature, interaction parameter and radius of gyration, were determined. These parameters reflect thermodynamic property of polymer solution, which represent the extent of the interaction between polymer and solvent. Theta temperature was estimated from the critical solution temperatures of different molecular weight polymers via optical microscopy with temperature control. The interaction parameter and radius of gyration were determined by Zimm plots of static light scattering.
