One-dimensional metallic nanostructures, Ag nanowires (Ag NWs), have recently attracted a great deal of attention as electrode material as a promising alternative to ITO for fabrication of electronic devices. In this work, we successfully synthesized thin and long silver nanowires were successfully synthesized using the polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-assisted polyol method in the presence of ionic liquids, tetrabutylammonium chloride and tetrabutylammonium bromide, which served as soft template salts. In particular, the lengths of these Ag NWs could be controlled in the range of 10–50 μm with diameter of 30 μm according to the reaction step. The change in electrical and optical properties (transparent and haze) according to the change in length was observed. From long Ag NWs of up to 40 μm, the intensity of scattered light and the optical transmittance were observed to be significantly improved. |
