Cellulose have attracted much attention as an eco-friendly material, that could replace the commercialized polymers. Tunicate cellulose could lead to high mechanical performance eco-friendly material, due to the high crystallinity and the high linearlity. In this study, we extracted cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) by disintegration the outer tissues sea squirt. The effect of disintegration process on structure-property relationships were discussed, by varying the reaction time. We established a relationship between crystallinity of tunicate cellulose nanofibers with stiffness and linearity, which produces nanostructured films that have different molecular ordering. Our systematic investigations provide practical and general strategies to modulate material properties for various applications, including flexible electronics, implantable and biodegradable devices. |
