The composition of the silicone emulsions used for the precursor treatment for carbon fibers aims to prevent fusion of the precursor fibers and has a low surface tension. As raw materials based on polydimethylsiloxane composed of high-molecular polymers, emulsifiers and water are added to products by various emulsion polymerization methods. Silicone polymers are used as raw materials with various functional groups in the polydimethylsiloxane backbone. Silicone polymers with amino functionality are mainly used when considering adhesion to precursor fibers in addition to the purpose of preventing fusion. In this study, various silicone emulsions were prepared based on the basic analysis results of commercial emulsions, and the stability of emulsions judged to be suitable for high performance carbon fibers with similar performance based on commercial emulsions was analyzed. |
