Post-Crosslinking of Chlorinated Polyisoprene Electrospun Nanofiber web for Improved Piezocapacitive Sensor Performance |

Our research has been focused on studying the capacitance-pressure hysteresis of electrospun chlorinated polyisoprene (CPI) nanoweb for capacitive sensor applications. The drawbacks of polymer-based capacitive sensors, however, are immoderate web thickness and large capacitance-pressure hysteresis. CPI based crosslinked nanoweb shows relatively linear increases of capacitance with applied pressure and restores its initial thickness when pressure is released due to the improved resilience and elasticity by crosslinking, which leads to reducing its hysteresis. In this study, we used dicumyl peroxide of varying amounts as a crosslinking agent in electrospinning solution using different solvent mixtures. Thermal annealing of electrospun nanoweb was performed at 115~160 oC for 0.1~2 h for crosslinking of the intermolecular polyisoprene chains. Hysteresis, creep and relaxation behavior of fabricated sensors were investigated. This work was supported by the MOTIE, Korea (Grant No. 10047976). |
