제목 | Synthesis and Characterization of New Polyimides from 2,3,5,6-p-Terphenyltetracarboxylic Dianhydride |
초록 | Several successful approaches of structure modification for processable polyimides have been widely investigated. Among various attempts, it has been recognized that bulky pendents in rigid-rod polyimide reduce inter-chain interaction and unsymmetrical molecule tends to be more soluble than its symmetrical isomer. The present work deals with the synthesis of 2,3,5,6-p-terphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride, which can be considered as a PMDA(pyromellitic dianhydride) monomer having bulky biphenyl pendent group on 3-position. Thus, the prepared monomer has less symmetrical structure without thermally weak linkage. The polyimides from this dianhydride with common aromatic diamines were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, FT-NMR and elemental analyses. Their properties such as solubility, thermal stability, phase transition and structure were investigated by means of TGA, DSC and X-ray diffractometer. Details of the effects of biphenyl pendent group on polymer properties will be discussed. |
