2D nanosheet-based hybrid catalyst for solar fuel production |

The exfoliated 2D nanosheets of layered inorganic solids attract intense research interest because of their usefulness as building blocks for 3D nanohybrids applicable for energy technologies. A great diversity in the chemical compositions and crystal structures of inorganic nanosheets provides this class of materials with a wide spectrum of physical properties and functionalities. The inorganic nanosheets can be used as powerful building blocks for exploring high performance hybrid photocatalysts for solar fuel production. These materials can play a role as photocatalytically active components as well as conductive additives for improving the photocatalyst performance of hybridized species. In this talk, several practical examples of 2D inorganic nanosheet-based photocatalysts active for solar fuel production will be presented together with the discussion about the relationship between photocatalyst activity and chemical bonding nature. |
