In this work, we prepared activated carbon (AC) derived from rice husks using physical activation and silica elimination. The silica particles in rice husks lead to providing extra-porosity by silica elimination. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) used for silica elimination and steam activation used for physical activation. The structure informations of the activated carbons were confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and pore size distributions were measured at 77K and calculated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and non-local density functional theory (NLDFT). Elements compositions of samples were measured by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDX). The methane storage capacity was investigated by BEL-HP at 273 K, 35 bar. From these results, methane storage was enhanced with increasing specific surface area by silica elimination. |
