In this study, we prepared a mechanically tough and stretchable conducting hydrogel microtubes that comprised of poly(acrylamide) (PAAm), alginate, and conducting poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). The microtubes were generated by a micro-channel device and the dimension of microtubes could be readily determined by dimension of the capillaries. The prepared microtubes were highly stretchable as long as 5 times, which is achieved by double networks structure of the covalent and ionic crosslinking network. The strain-stress curve for the microtubes were measured using the dynamic mechanical analyzer by varying the composition. We also found that the hydrogel microtubes exhibit the linear and fast resistance change depending on strain through disconnect of PEDOT:PSS network, resulting from the percolation of the pathway for the electron. |
