Influence of Lithium coordination on conductivity behavior in poly(butadieneacrylonitrile)lithium iodide system for solid polymer electrolyte |

The metal coordination and the ionic conductivity of amorphous solid polymer electrolytes, based on poly(butadieneacrylonitrile) copolymer (PBAN) and LiI, have been studied. The interaction of Li+ ions and polymeric groups was investigated by DSC, XRD and FTIR methods and ionic conductivities were studied by impedance spectroscopy. The properties of the new system were compared to those of the well known poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)LiI polymer electrolytes. The interactions of LiI with PBAN lead to high flexibility of this system and the conductivity of the mixture was dependent on LiI salt concentration and glass transition temperature (Tg). The highest ionic conductivity versus salt concentration for the mixtures was found to be due to amount of effective carrier ion and the highest mobility of segment of PBAN at a suitable LiI concentration. The ionic conductivity of PBAN/LiI mixtures was dependent on cyano group content and flexibility. |
