In recent years, polymer/carbon nano-fillers nanocomposites have attracted attentions of scientists and engineers due to the large improvement of mechanical and electrical properties by the addition of relatively small amount of fillers. In this paper, nanocomposites of polycarbonate (PC) and graphene nanoplate (GNP) were prepared and effects of pyrene butyric acid (PBA)-g-polycaprolactone (PCL) were studied as a compatibilizer of the nanocomposites. Without the addition of the compatibilizers, dispersion of GNP was not good enough. Incorporation of PBA-g-PCL into the PC/GNP nanocomposites resulted in the improved dispersion of GNP and the decrease of percolation threshold values in terms of electrical properties of the nanocomposites depending on the GNP contents. It is postulated that the improved dispersion of GNPs resulted from the compatibilities of PBA and PCL of the compatibilizer with GNP and PC respectively. |
