제목 The Performance of Nafion/Inorganic Nanocomposite IPMC Actuators Containing Silica, Layered Silicate, and Amphiphilic Organic Molecule
초록 Nafion nanocomposite membranes were prepared using fumed silica, MMT, and an amphiphilic organic molecule (camphor-10-sulfonic acid(β); CSA). An organosilane (3-MPTMS) was grafted on the surface of silica and MMT, and the thiol groups on the fillers were sulfonated to endow them with additional metal ions. The modification of fillers and the incorporation of the fillers in Nafion matrix considerably altered the internal morphologies of hydrophilic ion-rich and hydrophobic fluorocarbon regions, followed by the change in thermal and mechanical properties, and mass transport kinetics. The actuation performance in terms of displacement and generated force was the best for IPMCs based on the Nafion/sulfonated MMT nanocomposite membrane among all samples prepared, although the proton conductivity of the Nafion/CSA membrane registered 0.123 S/cm in maximum superior to those of the pristine Nafion membrane (0.085 S/cm) and the others (0.0800.090 S/cm).
