Preparation of PNIPAm hydrogel composite membranes and their thermo-responsive behavior |

Thermo-responsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) hydrogel microspheres were prepared by free-radical polymerization. These PNIPAm hydrogel microspheres were incorporated into the polyethersulfone (PES) microfiltration membrane in order to improve the hydrophilicity of membrane surface and to endow the membrane with thermo-responsive characteristics. PES/PNIPAm composite membranes were prepared by phase inversion and diffusion in the mixed solvents of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and ethylene glycol monomethyl ether with polyethylene glycol 600 as plasticizer. |
