One-dimensional nanostructured particles such nanowire, nanotubes, nanorods, or nanofibers are expected to play important roles in fabricating nanoscale devices and nanocomposites. Mixtures of silver nanowire (AgNW) and nanoparticles prepared by the polyol process and graphene oxide (GO) were dispersed in a hybrid of epoxy/silane resin. GO was added to prevent settling of AgNW. Dispersion and interfacial properties of AgNW and GO in the base resin are the key parameters of the nanocomposites. In order to induce sintering of AgNWs in the nanocomposites. Heating of the hybrid upto 200°C in the oven and microwave (MW) irradiation after cure at 150°C were investigated comparatively. It was found that MW irradiation heated the GO in the system and sintering of AgNW occurred quickly. It is postulated that the sintering improves interfacial adhesion of AgNW in the nanocomposites. |
