Energetic materials are extensively used for a variety of military purposes and industrial applications. Current interest has been focused on the development of high-energy-density materials with higher performance and/or decreased sensitivity to thermal shock and friction. Azole compounds such as imidazole, pyrazole, triazole and tetrazole, are known to generate nitrogen gas after explosion owing to their high content of nitrogen atoms, so they show lower toxicity than other explosive compounds. They also are expected to have higher explosive energy than other explosive compounds. Therefore, there have been many synthetic studies of nitroazole derivatives as molecular explosives. Herein, we present some new bisnitroazoles as potential high molecular explosives and their efficient synthetic ways via polynitration or nitrodeiodenation reactions. |
