Condensation polymers have been developed as several decades according to the requirements of new materials for industrial applications. In this presentation, it will be reported that Lotte Chemical has been developing condensation polymers and its applications through the modification of aromatic polymers. In accordance with increasing concerns about human health, it is gradually increased eco-friendly aromatic polymers not involving heavy metals and endocrine disruptor. Heavy metal free polymers have been developed to minimize the migration amounts of heavy metals. Furthermore, Bio-based polymers have been developing for packaging and appliance applications which are more sensitive area related to human health. In other fields, transparent sheets having various functionalities such as UV cut-off and IR cut-off properties can be made by introduction of functional additives during polymerization or reactive extrusion processes. To increase surface performance, different plastics were coextruded and coating materials having functionality were introduced on the top of extruded sheets. Various attempts have been made to increase optical properties and emotional qualities. |
