Polymeric nanoparticles have received a significant interest in recent years because of their promising application in medicine, for example, as drug delivery systems and gene transfection agents. Very recently, acrylate based polymeric nanoparticles capable of binding to specific biomacromolecules have been reported as promising substitutes for antibodies. In the present study, Poly-acryloyl - alanine nano-particles were synthesized by solid state polymerization(SSP) using scCO2 and toluene and also by precipitation polymerization in THF. In case of precipitation polymerization, the monomer conversion was 90% while in case of SSP, it was 60%. The solubility of the polymers obtained from above mentioned methods was studied carefully. Polymers from all methods were found to be soluble in water, methanol and DMSO. However, the water solutions obtained from polymers of different methods behave diffrently which is very interesting and important. |
