제목 | Effect of Poly(ethyleneimine) on the Transfection Efficiency of Galactosylated Chitosan-DNA Complexes |
초록 | Gene therapy can be a powerful treatment for both congenial and acquired diseases. Non-viral delivery systems for gene therapy have been increasingly proposed as safer alternatives to viral vectors. Chitosan is considered to be a good candidate for the gene delivery system, since it is already known as a biocompatible, biodegradable, and low toxic material and it can easily complexed with negatively charged plasmid DNA. In spite of these excellent characters, chitosan has the severe disadvantage that is low transfection efficiency in vitro. In this study, to enhance the transfection efficiency, poly(ethyleneimine)(PEI) which had been proved to show high transfection efficiency was added to galactosylated chitosan-DNA complexes as co-factor. And the effect of added PEI on cytotoxicity was investigated as compared with that of PEI itself. |
